As you can imagine, there are several options when it comes to brewing coffee, and that’s a good thing because not everyone is a fan of using the same method every time. So, here are 8 tips on how to help you choose the right coffee brewing method, you’ll find a simple graphic below to show the differences between the different brewing methods:

How to choose the best coffee maker

Personally I don’t really drink coffee regularly, because it is too expensive, but I do sometimes just try a cup of tea instead. So in my opinion, I think that you should learn how to make coffee yourself, it will save you money, and you’ll also learn how to make a really good cup of coffee, instead of buying instant coffee.

So that’s what I did.

8 Tips to Help You Choose The Right Brewing Method

What does brewing method mean?

In essence brewing method is the way in which the coffee is brewed and made. Chemex is a classic French pour over coffee brew method. You put your coffee grounds in the Chemex. Set your filter down into the Chemex. Pour water over the grounds and hold it for around 30 seconds.

This is a great way to make a strong espresso.

Chemex

This is one of the most popular methods of brewing coffee in the US, so it’s a good thing there are so many good filters to choose from.

If you’re looking for a decent brewer at an affordable price, look no further, or head to Amazon. The cheapest is the DuClaw Memphat Aeropress.

If you want to save money and get all of the same features as the Memphat but with a higher maximum temperature, the Cuisinart Brew it Yourself Coffee Maker is an excellent option.

Aeropress

This is another one of the most popular ways to brew coffee. It uses a slow drip, which allows coffee to fully steep in the brewing vessel.

Aeropress filters are designed to work with the Chemex brewing method, meaning you can get all of the benefits of a Chemex at a lower price.

Aeropress

Aeropress machines are popular because of the ease of use and the fact that it has a narrow throat. Aeropress also requires much less water, so it makes brewing your coffee much faster. The Aeropress is great if you do not drink a lot of coffee, because it only requires two parts of water (One part for coffee, and the other one for water, this is one of the things that make it so fast).

As an alternative to the Aeropress, you can use a french press which also performs the same task, it can be more expensive, and its a bit more work because you need to measure the coffee and the water, but it can be a good option if you do not use a lot of coffee.

Filter

A filter allows you to get a cleaner cup of coffee.

Mochapot

The Mocha Pot is a French technique, but some call it an Aeropress, that uses one type of French press and one type of French press basket and a double-wall stainless steel pot.

You need to be aware that the French press is better with medium sized coffee, and the mocha pot is better for the large coffee or if you want to use milk in it.

The mocha pot does use a filter, and can be used in a French press or Aeropress.

Espresso

The espresso is used when the water is heated to a high temperature, this brew method is not limited to the French press, it can also be done with the mocha pot.

Step 1:

Wash & Dry the espresso pot & kettle, the best method is to use a lidded reusable mug.

Step 2:

Clean & sanitize the coffee pot & kettle.

Espresso

The Espresso method is often thought to be the best way to enjoy a cup of coffee. Espresso is extracted from beans and is usually heated to about 185ºF, but temperatures can go up as high as 215ºF. Depending on the machine you use and the way you mix the water and coffee, you can extract all kinds of different flavors from your coffee beans. I personally like to use the Chemex because it gives a great visual effect for your first cup of coffee in the morning. However, the other methods can yield a delicious cup of coffee too.

Filters

Espresso is quite acidic, so it’s recommended that you drink your coffee hot, about 80ºF. So it’s best to use a filter to brew your coffee so you can avoid putting acidity back into your coffee.
